What Can I Do with My Degree?

This is an important question, and one you should try to answer early on in your coursework here in the College of Business. Below you will see a brief description of the majors in the College and some of the career options associated with each.

Accountants and auditors prepare, analyze, and verify financial documents in order for a business to make the necessary financial decisions through budget analysis, financial and investment planning, and other important services. They work with accounting and tax forms, financial reports and records, payroll and disbursement systems, contracts, policies and procedures, and government rules and regulations.

Majoring in Business Administration prepares students for successful careers in a competitive and fast paced environment. Business professionals plan, organize, lead and control organizational departments, programs and operations. They take responsibility for budgets, branding, pricing, promotional campaigns, distribution strategies and communications, as well as staffing, training and evaluation of employee performance. They formulate the policies and direct the operations of corporations, small businesses, nonprofit organizations and government agencies.

The opportunities with a finance degree span many areas including banking, corporate and international financial management, risk management as well as personal financial planning and investment services.

International Business is designed for those students who wish to prepare themselves to engage in businesses that crosses national boundaries and to function in the global business environment. Students may ultimately choose to specialize in a particular region, such as Asia and the Pacific, Eastern Europe, Central or South America, etc. Students will be equipped with key managerial and professional expertise that will enable them to successfully navigate the sphere of national/international business, government and not-for-profit organizations. International business provides a wide spectrum of opportunities – foreign and domestic.

Marketing

Sales and marketing professionals work in every industry, including manufacturing, wholesale and retail sales, finance, insurance, real estate, advertising, public relations, publishing, television, internet, printing, and education. Marketing professionals determine consumer demand for products and services, and they are responsible for market research, branding, pricing, packaging, promoting, and distribution. Students who meet the prescribed degree requirements will be awarded the Bachelor of Business administration with a major in marketing.
